SWA Selected Projects

Located in southern Napa Valley, the winery site is part of a larger 5,000-acre estate. Its minimalist aesthetic draws from the inclinations of the Japanese client, while respecting the character of the native environment. Central to the design efforts is a new entry and entry road that set the stage for the sequence of the visitor experience. Terraced fields of locally imported, mature olive trees and walls made of local stone characterize the laid-back yet precise design for the winery site while the transition from the dry, rolling, vine-covered hills to the more formally composed area was accomplished via a meadow that manages storm water.
